Privacy policy
canIswim has no accounts, no login, no newsletter and no forms. It asks you for nothing and stores nothing about you itself. What follows is an honest account of what is left: what the company hosting it sees.
What this site collects
Nothing. There is no database of visitors, no contact form, no sign-up, and the site sets no cookie of its own. Every page — every sea temperature, every wetsuit table — is a static file computed in advance from data fetched long before you arrived. Loading one sends no information anywhere except to the third parties named below.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages). Like any web host, Cloudflare necessarily processes your IP address, the page you asked for, your browser's user-agent string and the time of the request, in order to deliver the page and to protect the site from attack. This is request data, held by Cloudflare, not by this site. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Audience measurement
Traffic is measured with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is deliberately cookieless: it sets no cookie, assigns no visitor identifier and does not follow you to other sites. It reports how many times each page was loaded, from which country, and which site referred you — in aggregate. There is no way, from that data, to single out one person.
There is no Google Analytics on this site.
Advertising
There is none, and that is not a euphemism for "not yet loaded". This site ships no ad tag,
no ad network script and no ads.txt at all. Nobody is bidding on you here, and
no consent prompt appears because there is nothing to consent to.
What is never done here
- No data is sold, and none is shared with anyone beyond the parties named above.
- No profile about you is built or kept by this site.
- No email address is collected, because there is nowhere to enter one.
- Nothing here is aimed at children, and no age or identity information is requested.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and the UK GDPR you can ask for access to, correction of, or erasure of personal data held about you, and you can object to processing or complain to your national data protection authority.
Practically, this site holds no personal data to give you, correct or erase — it holds none at all. The data that exists sits with Cloudflare, and requests about it are best addressed there, through the privacy policy linked above. If you would rather start here, write to contact@caniswim.com and it will be passed on.
Changes
This page is generated from the site's own configuration on every build, so it describes what the site actually does rather than what it did when someone last remembered to edit it. If the advertising or measurement above ever changes, this page changes in the same commit.
